AutoVerifAI is an intelligent system designed to eliminate fraud and "asset traps" in the Kenyan car and heavy machinery financing market. It acts as a cognitive protective layer between borrowers, lenders, and brokers — combining machine learning with real-world financial guardrails to ensure every transaction is grounded in verified logic rather than handshake promises. The project was inspired by high-profile cases like Raphael Tuju's asset dispute and everyday citizens losing millions in lorry-financing schemes — systemic problems that demand a systemic solution.
Kenya's asset financing market is plagued by document forgery, inflated valuations, and predatory lending. Brokers and unscrupulous dealers exploit information asymmetry to trap borrowers in unfavourable deals. Lenders have no reliable way to verify whether an asset's stated value, condition, or ownership history is legitimate — leading to devastating financial losses on both sides.
